She has studied music since childhood under her mother, Utayumi Kitamura, and is now qualified as a grand master of the Ikuta School of Seiha Hogakukai.

 

She has performed both in Japan and abroad—not only on traditional Japanese instruments but also on Western instruments, collaborating with singers, dancers and other artists from a wide range of genres.
